“TropTNT” is a project aimed primarily for young people who want to socialize and talk about life, share their experiences and learn something new. Young people together are exploring the risks of everyday life, opening current topics such as the consumption of alcohol and other substances, partnership relations, relationships between parents and children and other topics that young people consider important for them. Through the project the youngsters learn to identify risky situations, discuss positive outcomes and possible harmful consequences that can occur and how to avoid them. The goal of those activities is to increase the ability to critically evaluate risky situations and to plan the reduction of unwanted consequences.

The activities are based on the method of risk analysis, which was developed by  the Faculty of social work, University of Ljubljana. The method includes risk assessment by identifying potential harm and profits. It can be used to reflect on past risk events or to plan future events. The goal is to make a practical plan for risk and harm reduction.

The workshops start by co-creating an agreement, setting up some rules and guidelines which provide a safe and open space where every individual is heard and respected.  The content is co-created with the participants and always based on the interests and experiences of a particular group.

The activities usually take place in classrooms or other accessible spaces. Participants seat on chairs forming a circle. A blackboard or posters are used to write down ideas about harm reduction strategies, gains and risks and the main tool is conversation.

The idea of the workshops is to create a safe space where young adolescents can validate and evaluate their thoughts and experience and discuss risk behavior in their everyday life. Most commonly discussed are the topics such as experimenting with alcohol and other drugs, sexuality, relationships and by sharing and reflecting on experiences the group discuss and plan how to minimize the potential negative effects of risks. Therefore the participants through the workshops are strengthening the ability to reflect on past experiences, plan the future using risk reduction strategies, connecting with peers, strengthening relationships inside the group, building their self-esteem, empowering each other.
