CSC San Francesco, within the Youthocracy project, organized a day in the Polvese Island for “parents accompanied by children” becoming environmental sentinels.
The main idea was to study the environment and introduce some scientific and biology workshops. We gave to the participants the tools and the knowledge to be able to become sentinel of the environment and at the same time to be involved in the community as active citizens.
Through simple chemical experiments, all together, we analyzed the quality of the water in several different points! We didn’t work in a lab but open air with a particular scientific kit.
We presented the project and started to think that could be very interesting to share the results of our analysis of water with results coming from different lakes, but always using the same methodology. The main aim was to give the youth competences and tools to stimulate their critical thinking and to be able to be able to know what is happening around them.
